Choosing a Hat For a Nautical Necklace
The naval uniform for the US Navy consists of both a naval dress shirt and a naval hat. While these are the basic pieces of navy fashion, each branch has its own variations. Sailors will find a wider variety in hats and shirts than those in the navy. Sailors will also find more variety in their ties. This is because the tie typically has a wider cloth and a wider brim.
The naval cap is a flat, round visorless hat usually worn by naval sailors throughout the world. It is made from a wool blend hat with attached silk ribbon. The brim is trimmed with brass wire and the name of the ship may be embroidered on the inside of the brim. A tally, a small black silk square, is also tied under the cap to signify the name of a sailor or a navy. Many sailors choose this style of hat, however, there are other alternatives to the navy hat.
Traditionally navy hats come in blues and gold, but colors other than these have become popular among sailors. Traditionally navy hats are dark, solid and reliable colors. However, colors such as blue, green, pink, yellow, and orange are becoming increasingly popular. The traditional color navy blue continues to be a favorite, but the colors of today are more complex and the choices for a navy hat are more varied.
